Mayu Hamada, who has participated in three consecutive Olympic Games in Taekwondo, has announced that he will retire.

Hamada is 28 years old from Saga prefecture.

At her first Olympic appearance in London 2012, she finished fifth in the women's 57kg class.

She won the gold medal for the first time as a Japanese player in the women's 56 kg class at the 2015 World Championships.

She has participated in the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Games and last year's Tokyo Games for the third time in a row, and lost in the first match of the women's 57 kg class at the Tokyo Games.

Hamada announced on the 31st that he will retire from active duty through a management company. The main reason was that I didn't do it, and I was thinking of putting out my strength at the end of the Tokyo Olympics. I wanted to say hello to each and every one of you, but I would like to take this opportunity to report. Thank you. "
