Dortmund president promises: We will develop a new star if Haaland leaves

Borussia Dortmund CEO Hans-Joachim Watzke said that there are no offers yet for the Norwegian star Erling Haaland, but a new hero will replace him if he leaves the team.

He added, in statements to "Bild" sports magazine in an interview published today, Wednesday: "Currently, we do not know anything specific, not from the player's side, and no one has come to us."

Halland, 21, is one of the most prominent strikers in Europe, and media reports stated that he could leave Dortmund for a pre-set fee this summer, which is much less than its market value.

Watzke did not rule out Haaland's stay, but said, "We know that we cannot compete financially, if Manchester City applies to include the player."

However, Dortmund's cycle of making players will continue.

He said, "If Haaland leaves, we will find another new talent, and we will develop a star. This will also benefit the German League (Bundesliga)."
