According to some local sources, Dr. Kabungo, assigned to carry out doping controls after the match, died in violence after the elimination of Nigeria, which had been held in check in the first leg (0-0 ).

Other sources report a heart attack, unrelated to a crowd movement.

The FAZ remains very cautious.

“It is too early to dwell on the details of the cause of his death, but we will await the full report from CAF and FIFA on what exactly happened,” said its president Andrew Kamanga.
