The first Swede to excel in the match was Jacob Peterson who gave Dallas the lead 1-0.

After a goalless period, the deadlock broke 5.42 into the second period when the Canucks were careless in the play and offered Dallas a free chance.

Peterson wall-played with Jamie Benn and set the lead goal with a backhand.

Before midnight, Vancouver had equalized.

The team needed only 15 seconds in powerplay before Elias Pettersson thundered in 1-1 from the right technical circle.

Solo show at 2-1

Even a little nicer was Ångesonen's 2-1 early in the third period.

"EP40" then grabbed the puck in its own zone, went solo across the track and finished in the cut, straight up into the net roof.

The snappy wrist shot was Pettersson's 20th goal of the season and his 47th point in a total of 65 games.

Pettersson had a tough start to the season, but has risen and in the last 16 matches he has scored 20 points.

Me, Bo (Horvat) and Brock (Boeser) take small steps for each match.

As soon as I get the chance, I try to score goals and lately it has felt better.

Not least the shooter, he tells nhl.com.

The 2-1 goal also meant a milestone for Pettersson, who has now scored 200 points in his NHL career, spread over 85 goals and 115 assists in 230 games over four seasons.

"He should shoot more"

Dallas pressed for an equalizer and had some good chances.

Not least with eight minutes left on the clock when the away team's goalkeeper Thatcher Demko made a huge save.

The American completely robbed Esa Lindell when he, lying on his stomach and with outstretched legs, flapped his right leg protection and saved at one post.

In total, Demko was noted for 35 saves in the match.

Instead of an equalizer, Bo Horvat put 3-1 in an empty cage with 1.06 left.

The match finally ended 4-1 for Vancouver and afterwards Elias Pettersson was hailed by coach Bruce Boudreau:

- I have told Pettersson to shoot more.

He has an amazing shot that he does not use enough.

Usually he wants to be a playmaker, but when he shoots, the puck goes in.

His second goal was a perfect example of what electric shot he has, says Boudreau.

Pettersson is ninth in the Swedes' points list, which is topped by Mika Zibanejad (New York Rangers) and Elias Lindholm (Calgary), both with 68 points in 65 games.
