Johan Storåkers was re-elected for another year as chairman of the Swedish Athletics Association.

But it was not without drama.

Storåkers was the nomination committee's candidate and had no opponents, but several districts tried to postpone the decision by demanding that the election be postponed to an extra annual meeting.

- I believe that we delegates do not have sufficient decision material, says Christina Liffner, representative for the district Södra Svealand with reference to SVT Sports information about Storåker's compensation and received support from several several heavy sources, including Gotland / Stockholm.

"A set of values for which I can not be held responsible"

But in a vote, it lost the claim by 41 votes to 68. And since Storåkers was the only candidate, he was clubbed as chairman.

This prompted Stefan Movin, representative for the Gotland / Stockholm district, to make a reservation against the decision.

- We have legitimized a set of values for which I can not be held accountable to those I represent, he says.

Recently, there have been storms around Storåkers.

The reason is that during his nine years as chairman of the Gotland / Stockholm district, until 2019, he received SEK 600,000 in fees, without the rest of the board knowing about it, something that SVT Sport revealed.

Johan Storåker's assignment was non-profit, but he has always denied having violated any rules and statutes by receiving compensation.

- It is important, for the facts to be correct, to point out that I was not an employee or employee, with any employment contract.

Therefore, no charter has been committed, he says at the seminar before the annual meeting.
