Senegal defender Salio Ciss scored an own goal, as Egypt won 1-0 in the first leg of the decisive round of African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Cairo Stadium on Friday, while Nigeria scored a precious 0-0 draw with its host Ghana.

Amr Al-Sulayya sent a cross pass into the penalty area, which was controlled by Mohamed Salah, the captain of the Egyptian team, and hit the crossbar, to bounce and hit Sis's foot and netted his colleague goalkeeper Edward Mendy in the fourth minute of the match.

The return match will be held in Senegal next Tuesday, during which the Egyptian team needs to win or draw by any result to guarantee its participation in the World Cup for the fourth time in its history, after the years 1934, 1990 and 2018.

Senegal coach Elio Cisse made an emergency change in the 14th minute, in which defender Abdou Diallo was injured and Babi Abu Cisse participated.

Omar Jaber sent a cross pass, which was received by Mustafa Muhammad with a moderate header, which settled in Mandy's hand.

The visiting team dominated the match completely after half an hour from the start, and Mahmoud Hamdi (Al Wensh) got the first warning for the roughness.

Thus, the Arab teams have achieved good results in Friday’s matches, with the first leg of the play-off round for the African qualifiers for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar, as Morocco tied 1-1 on the territory of the Democratic Republic of the Congo, while Algeria and Tunisia won 1-0 over Cameroon and Mali, respectively, and finally, With the same result, Egypt beat Senegal.

Nigeria tied with Ghana

In another match in the same role, a goalless draw overshadowed the confrontation of the Ghanaian national team and its guest Nigeria.

Neither team managed to take advantage of the chances they had throughout the 90 minutes of the match.
