Commentator Huh Gu-yeon became the first baseball player to become the head of the Korea Baseball Organization.

The KBO announced today (25th), "We elected Huh Gu-yeon as the 24th president by unanimous vote at the club owner's general meeting through a written vote."

The new president, Gu-yeon Huh, will hold an inaugural press conference at the KBO on the 29th.

President Huh Gu-yeon is an 'orthodox baseball player'.

The KBO, which had previously elected businessmen and politicians as its president, welcomed the 'baseball governor' as its head this year, celebrating the 40th anniversary of the establishment of professional baseball.

Goo-Yeon Huh, the president of professional baseball, played in the commercial bank and Hanil Bank in the 1970s, before the launch of professional baseball (1982).

In October 1985, he became the youngest player in history (age 34) to become head coach of professional baseball's Cheongbo Pintos.

His supervisory career did not last long.

On May 10, 1986, President Huh Gu-yeon transferred command to coach Kang Tae-jung due to poor grades, but returned on June 18 of that year, but was dismissed midway on August 6.

Afterwards, President Huh worked as a coach for the Lotte Giants in 1987 and as a coach for the Toronto Blue Jays in American professional baseball in 1990.

President Huh Gu-yeon returned to broadcasting in 1991, and he constantly threw up topics such as infrastructure on and off the baseball field.

He also has KBO administrative experience, including Rules Chairman in 2005, Vice Chairman of the Technical Committee in 2007, Chairman of the Baseball Development Committee in 2009, and Advisor to the Governor in 2018.

When President Huh was nominated as a candidate, the baseball world, including the Professional Baseball Players Association and Ilgu Association, expressed their welcome, and unanimously supported President Huh at the KBO's highest decision-making body, the club owners' meeting and general assembly.
