The blow is hard for Leonardo Balerdi.
The Argentinian defender of Marseille underwent surgery on Wednesday for a left shoulder injury and his season is over, his club announced on Wednesday.
“Olympique de Marseille confirms that Leonardo Balerdi had shoulder surgery today (Wednesday) in Italy.
An operation necessary following an injury that occurred last fall, in order to definitively resolve the problem.
“The duration of his unavailability is estimated at around four months,” the club added.

The player had previously posted a photo on his Instagram account showing him on a hospital bed, his left arm fitted.
Balerdi, 23, has played 24 games for OM this season.
He was no longer a starter in recent months but came into play regularly and was part of the rotation as central defender.
