The International Swimming Federation (Fina), as one of the few sports federations, has allowed Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete as neutrals.

The swimming federations in Germany, Switzerland and Poland have threatened to boycott the world championships in June if it is not changed, and the Swedish swimming federation announced earlier this week that they would join the stance.

But now they're releasing it.

Fina announced today that they are stopping all Russian and Belarusian athletes and leaders from Fina-arranged competitions.

In addition, they announce that they have launched an investigation into the participation of Russian swimmer Yevgeny Rylov in an event in support of the war in Ukraine.

"Fina maintains the strongest condemnation of Russia's invasion of Ukraine," Fina writes on their website.
