The UK and the EU have imposed sanctions on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, which has meant that the club has not been allowed to sell tickets for the past two weeks.

But today, the British government announced that they have eased some of the sanctions that Chelsea have suffered, which means, among other things, that the association may in future sell tickets to away supporters.

This means, for example, that some Real Madrid supporters will be able to watch the Champions League quarter-final at Stamford Bridge.

"Want to thank the supporters"

The club is also allowed to receive 30 million pounds (just over 374 million kronor) from its parent company to be able to manage its costs, and may also sell tickets to matches with the association's women's team.

- I want to thank the supporters for their patience while we have worked together with those who control football to make this possible.

"Since Roman Abramovich was sanctioned because of his links to Vladimir Putin, we have worked hard to ensure that the club can continue to play football while ensuring that the sanctions fulfill their purpose," said Sports Minister Nigel Huddleston, according to the Associated Press.
