Injury keeps two big stars away from Tunisia in the two matches with Mali

Tunisia's attacking star Wahbi Khazri will miss his country's expected match against Mali, Friday, in the first leg of the decisive round of the African qualifiers for the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, due to an ankle injury, according to the Tunisian Federation.

Defender Dylan Bron will also be absent for the same reason.

The Tunisian Federation said on Monday evening: "It was confirmed that the duo Wahbi Khazri and Dylan Brune were absent from the two matches against Mali due to their injuries."

Khazri (31 years), captain of French Sate Etienne, scored 32 goals in 95 international matches, while Bron (26 years), who also plays in the French league with Metz, played 29 international matches with the "Carthage Eagles".

The Tunisian Federation added, "Various medical and supplementary examinations have proven that the players Wahbi Khazri and Dylan Pron suffered an injury during the last interview with their club in the French Championship, and that the injury required a period of rest that prevented them from participating in the Tunisian and Mali matches."

Tunisia will visit Mali, first leg in Bamako, on Friday, and then they will meet again at the Hamadi Al-Akrabi stadium in Rades on March 29.

The Tunisian Federation revealed that the tests carried out in Germany for Colin midfielder Elias Skhiri did not show a seriousness of his injury, "and therefore he will join his teammates tomorrow, Tuesday."

The Tunisia squad wanted the return of Al Duhail midfielder Ferjani Sassi and Kuwait striker Taha Yassin Al Khenissi.

The two players were absent from the ranks of the "Carthage Eagles" in the last edition of the African Nations Cup finals in Cameroon, which they called from the quarter-final against Burkina Faso (0-1) and led to the dismissal of coach Munther Al-Kabeer and the appointment of his assistant Jalal Al-Qadri as his successor with the help of former internationals Ali Boumnigel and Salim Ben Ashour.
