Samaranch Sports Channel reported on March 22 that

according to a recent report by the Spanish newspaper El Pais, February 6 is the 99th birthday of Swiss old man Marcel Remy.

He celebrated the unforgettable day by rock climbing (conquering a 16-meter vertical route on a climbing wall).

The difficulty of this route is 4c, which is impossible for a teenager who is in good health but has no climbing experience.

The difficulty of climbing starts from level 4 and goes up to level 9.

And Marcel prefers to climb his own way - cordless.

Cordless rock climbing can cause serious falls.

While the technical differences between cordless and corded climbing are not that big, the difference in protection or not is extremely important.

Because a ropeless climber must have a strong mental quality, which is as important as physical quality, if not more decisive.

If it doesn't rain, the Swiss old man, born in 1923, is still keen on rock climbing in the open air.

His sons Yves and Claude are always by his side.

The two climbing legends fell in love with the sport by feeling their father's passion for the sport.

But back in the day, Marcel's parents never spoke highly of those who walked out of the train station next to their house with heavy backpacks and roped themselves up the treacherous peaks.

But Marcel Jr., less than 7 years old, is already deep in it - he dreams of chasing these guys and joining them.

But at that time he couldn't afford a professional climbing rope, so he had to make do with an eight- or nine-meter-long rope, which was used to tie cattle.

He and a friend used the rope to imitate rock climbers, but didn't know how.

This well-known inspirational story is repeated over and over again in the Swiss media.

But Marcel's love for the mountains all but vanished when an avalanche swept through his home and claimed the lives of his mother and sister.

He, his father and brother were saved because they were clearing snow from the railway that day.

Marcel's climbing dream was also buried in this avalanche.

Years later, in 1945, the mountain gave him a second chance.

His friend was stuck on a rock face and asked Marcel to try and help him out.

Marcel felt overwhelmed, he wasn't ready to face the mountain again, but he finally did, and he and his friends reached the top.

He experienced the feeling of a climber overcoming his fears, and he found himself stronger than he thought.

Everything happens in an instant.

Not long ago, a climbing wall in Villeneuve, Switzerland, was decorated to celebrate Marcel's birthday.

He is approaching his 100th birthday.

People prepared a cake for him, and also wanted to know where the old gentleman's passion and dedication to the sport of climbing came from.

There is a love that lasts a lifetime, and this old man's passion for rock climbing falls into that category.

"As long as my body can hold up, as long as I'm healthy, I plan to continue climbing on the climbing wall at least 2 days a week, and I would also like to take this opportunity to thank this indoor gym for keeping me in shape," he said. After blowing out the candle, Marcel said sincerely: "In order to continue to insist on my hobby, I must keep exercising and let my body and mind reach a state of balance." (Compiler / Liu Lifei)
