Carlo Ancelotti realized that he had made mistakes that ended in Real Madrid's heavy 4-0 loss to Barcelona in the Clasico on Sunday night.

Real Madrid are still 12 points clear of their arch-rivals after the defeat, but the Italian coach was understandably disappointed with his side's performance.

"Everything went wrong," Ancelotti said, commenting on the match. "I told the players that (the defeat) was my fault."

One of the most controversial moments of the match came in the 11th minute, when Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang played recklessly against Toni Kroos, however he was not given a yellow card, and Ancelotti did not want to highlight the refereeing condition that coaches of defeated teams usually cling to.

Ancelotti commented on the situation, saying, "I don't understand it, but I won't go into it because I don't want to make excuses. We played very badly."

"I am very sad about the defeat, I apologize to the fans, but I have to be calm," he added.

"We have time to gather our energies and prepare for the last two months of the season to win titles. We are nine points ahead of (Sevilla) in second place, and we are in the Champions League quarter-finals," Ancelotti added.
