The International Swimming Federation (Fina) allows, as one of the few sports federations, Russian and Belarusian athletes to compete as neutral.

The swimming federations in Germany, Switzerland and Poland are the countries that have previously openly threatened to boycott the world championships in June if it does not change.

Sweden may join that crowd.

- We have prepared such a position as well.

The Swedish Swimming Federation has made such a decision that if Russian and Belarusian activists are in place, we can also boycott, says the Swedish Swimming Federation's head Mikael Jansson.

- We would have liked the international federation to have made a clearer message earlier.

We have made a joint statement with the other Nordic countries as well.

The European Union has taken a stand on the issue and thereby we are also trying to influence the international union, says Jansson.

Jansson says, however, that they do not believe that a boycott should be necessary.

- We hope for a message soon and that they will not be with, says Jansson.
