This weekend it was clear that Borås will continue to play in the SBL season 2022/23, after Djurgården's win against Fryshuset.

Borås, as last year, was asked to take the step up from the basketball team from the association, which thought that the association had good conditions to establish itself in the highest league.

But it was only a year in SBL.

Borås basketball ladies withdraw from the highest series.

According to the outgoing chairman Maria Wiland, it is a dissenting board that has reached the decision.

- I have respect for what the majority of the board thinks, but could not fully agree with the decision.

I think it is wrong in principle, she says to Borås newspaper.

"I think it can have bigger consequences"

The press release that was released on Sunday evening states that they have not succeeded in creating additional conditions and resources in the way that the team planned for.

"This means that the board has judged that the association's financial resources are not sufficient to be able to run two teams in Swedish basketball's highest series in 2022/2023."

Maria Wiland is critical of the decision and believes that it may have consequences for the view of the association's gender equality work.

- It is a big failure for me and the board.

I am extremely responsible, but the trust in me disappears.

I think it can have bigger consequences than initially thought. I am afraid that the commitment on the girls' and women's side will decrease, she says.

SVT Sport has sought the chairman Maria Wiland for further comment and the vice chairman Björn Peterson for a comment, outside success.
