Portugal's Miguel Oliveira (KTM) won the Indonesia Motorcycle Grand Prix on Sunday, the second round of the MotoGP season, on the wet track of the Mandalika circuit, ahead of two Frenchmen, world champion Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha) and the Cannes resident Johann Zarco (Ducati-Pramac).

The Yamaha rider started on pole before dropping to 5th position and making a good comeback at the end of the race.

He finally missed a few laps to get back on Oliveira, but this second place delighted him.

"I didn't expect that," explained Quartararo on Canal+ after the race.

But from the warm-up lap, I felt something more when I have trouble when it rains.

I was much better, saw an opportunity and went for it.

It's the first time I've driven so well on a wet track.

I'm very happy because we found something and I liked it.

Marquez falls heavily in the warm-up

The Grand Prix, delayed by an hour and a quarter due to heavy rain on the island of Lombok, took place without Spaniard Marc Marquez, six-time MotoGP champion, who suffered a concussion after a violent fall warming up a few hours earlier.
