Veteran Argentine star Lionel Messi will miss his team Paris Saint-Germain's match against its host Monaco on Sunday in the 29th stage of the French Football Championship due to a flu infection, the capital club announced on Saturday.

And he said on his official website that "Messi has been undergoing treatment for 48 hours for the flu."

The club, which leads the local league standings, added that veteran Spanish defender Sergio Ramos (calf) "will return to competitions after the (international) break, similar to his compatriot, midfielder Ander Herrera, "who recovered from an infection in his eye."

Saint-Germain added that the Argentine winger Angel Di Maria will also miss the match due to a thigh muscle injury, while Spanish full back Juan Bernat will return to training next week and will not participate in the Monaco match.
