She continues her faultless.

A year after her last ring appearance, reigning IBO lightweight champion Estelle Mossely quickly found her rhythm and retained her belt by beating Argentina's Yanina del Carmen Lescano on points Friday in Dubai.

"It's been a long time since you fought, you did the hardest round, now you're going to find your marks," his coach Kamel Hasni told him at the start of the fight.

The last outing of the 2016 Olympic champion dated back to March 5, 2021 in Nantes when she beat the German Verena Kaiser on points.

During the ten rounds against Lescano, the 29-year-old Frenchwoman was never really worried.

Two of the three judges ruled in her favor (96-94 and 97-93), with the third surprisingly giving her opponent the win (96-94).

Admittedly, Argentina, a member of the world's Top 5, somewhat jostled the Frenchwoman in the 6th and 7th rounds, but Mossely quickly put her challenger, who was often too predictable and less mobile, at a distance.

Showing a broad smile at the end of the confrontation, Mossely remains undefeated with now 10 victories in 10 professional fights.

Irish Katie Taylor in the crosshairs

The Frenchwoman, who has just signed a contract with the American promotion company Probellum, hopes to gain visibility and now aims to get closer to a unification fight against the Irish Katie Taylor, queen of the category (WBA, IBF, WBO, WBC).

A challenge planned for the end of 2022 or the beginning of 2023 before focusing on the Paris-2024 Olympics.

"Taylor is not inaccessible, but today it's not a good idea to meet her," Mossely told AFP before his fight on Friday.

“I haven't gained enough experience.

We have a similar background but she has a bit of a lead since she went straight to pro after the Rio Olympics and I had two career breaks due to maternity.

But I will manage to catch up, ”she assured.

Between now and this big meeting, Estelle Mossely will make her return to the amateurs on the occasion of the World Championships in May in Turkey.
