• Confirmed The Audi A1 will not have an electric version

  • Audi Grandsphere prototype, feel it more than drive it

Things of tastes or countries, traditional relatives have never had a great predicament in Spain.

Very different is what happens in Italy, Germany or in Northern Europe, where they are highly appreciated cars.

And honestly, you have to side more with them than with us after seeing what Audi has done with the new

A6 Avant e-tron.

It represents the second body of this project, which started last year with the

A6 Sportback e-tron version that you can see in the photo below.

A6 Avant e-tron Concept: 95% real

The images that you can see here correspond to a prototype, but in the brand they assure that, in 90 or 95%%, it will be what we see

circulating on the roads from the year 2024.

So, for some lucky ones, the wait is can make them long...

Familiar silhouettes have always served Audi well, and the A6 Avant e-tron proves that those lines don't have to change when embracing electric technology.

Although its unique proportions must be recognized: it measures almost five meters long (4.96 cm) but only 1.44 meters high.

Like a good electric car, its forms have to be fluid so that the air does not become an insurmountable enemy, which is also why the front grille appears covered (with the logo of the four illuminated rings).

There are more interesting details in its design:

it recovers the cameras that the first e-tron SUV premiered for the exterior mirrors,

it shows a roof spoiler that visually links with the chrome line of the window frame... and in the rear it calls a lot attention the two framed air outlets,

in the style of the diffusers of Formula E single-seaters.

New PPE platform

Under that sensual body hides the new platform PPE (Premium Platform Electric)

specific for large electric cars from Audi (different from the one that serves as the basis for the e-tron GT, which is shared with Porsche).

Thanks to it, among other things, it will be able to offer autonomies one step above the current ones, reaching (and even exceeding)

700 kilometers per recharge in a mixed cycle (the batteries will have around 100 kW of capacity).

The headlights (and taillights) are slimmer than the current A6... and much more sophisticated.

The Digital Matrix LED technology rules in front and the OLED behind, which maximizes the lighting possibilities.

As a welcome to the driver, light effects are projected around the car, but that's just 'bragging'.

Headlights that can project... a video game

These sophisticated headlamps can project

warning messages in dangerous situations

(for example, to warn a cyclist that the door can be opened at any moment or to pedestrians waiting at a zebra crossing and even other vehicles traveling next to us).

Another striking function is to

project images of a video game... for example on the wall in front of the charger in which we are refueling

.

Something like the Sonic that Tesla offers on its main screen, but taken to a higher level.

Ultra-fast charging: 300 km in 10 minutes

One of the most interesting evolutions that the A6 e-tron will bring with it will be its greater charging capacity in high-power public stations.

The batteries of this A6 Avant e-tron will admit up to 270 kW, which means that we could charge the battery from 5 to 80% in half an hour

and what is more interesting depending on the circumstances:

in 10 minutes we would have acquired enough energy to travel 300 kilometers

(of course, for that you have to find a facility that offers such an 'flow of electrons').

And it will not only be fast loading... also on the move.

Audi announces, for the prototype, a power of 350 kW -that is, 475 CV-

and also gives us a first valid reference to know that the performance of the most powerful versions (which will be something like electric RS) will be in accordance with its aesthetics sports:

sign a 0 to 100 km / h in less than four seconds.

The less ambitious will do the sprint in seven seconds, which is not bad, and always with electric quattro all-wheel drive.

A final note that -yet- goes without saying.

The next Audi A6 will not only have electric versions;

The supply of combustion and/or electrified engines in parallel will also be maintained.

Another thing is that it is the last generation in which this happens...
