Thobias Montler hit 8.38 in his sixth and final long jump in the World Cup final in Belgrade tonight.

That was enough for a World Cup silver for the 26-year-old Swede.

- Damn strong.

He is a real machine, says SVT's expert Alhaji Jeng immediately afterwards.

Montler's hope is a new Swedish record.

It comes just days after he was stricken with a mild cold.

Jeng believes that the long jumper has longer hopes in him - maybe already this year.

- You want to be in the present and enjoy this, but he has potential for 8.50 lengths.

That's what this indicates.

But we should not anticipate the events.

Can he be up and sniffing at it already this year?

- It is hard to say.

But based on the jumping he showed today, there is no talk about it.

Does he get favorable conditions so definitely.

- Indoors, this is probably the biggest Swedish success we have had.

8.38 indoors is good, it's really good then.

As a long jumper, you always have the advantage that it is 25 degrees outside and 1.5 meters per second in the back.

It makes a big difference.
