Severe penalties for Ismail Matar... and reduced penalties for Rahimi, Khaled Issa and Al Shukaili

The Disciplinary Committee of the Emirates Football Association, during its meeting today, Tuesday, punished Al Wahda player Ismail Matar with two matches and a fine of 200,000 dirhams for assaulting the opposing team player without a ball. Al Ain Club players Sufian Rahimi, Khaled Issa and Nasser Al Shukaili, and each player was fined 25,000 dirhams for not showing sportsmanship, after the events that took place in the “Classico Abu Dhabi” match between Al Ain and Al Wahda, which ended with the victory of “Al-Zaeem” with a clean goal.

The Football Association said in a statement: "The committee considered the report of the match observer that brought together the Al-Wahda and Al-Ain teams in the 19th week of the ADNOC Professional League competition. The committee also decided to punish Al-Ain club player Eric Jurgens, with a three-match suspension and a fine (amount of 150,000 dirhams) for assaulting the player. One of the auxiliary elements on the field was (a security person), and the committee prevented the fitness coach of Al Ain Club, Jesus Otaola, from accompanying a team for four matches and fined him (an amount of 75 thousand dirhams) for his participation with the aforementioned player and his assault on the fans of Al Wahda Club, and an attempt to attack the technical staff of the club.

He added, "The committee also punished Al-Wahda and Al-Ain clubs by playing four matches on their stadium without an audience in the ADNOC Professional League competition, because some of their fans exchanged throwing liquid containers and throwing them on the field, deviating from the sportsmanship, going down to the field and uttering inappropriate words."

It is noteworthy that the meeting of the Disciplinary Committee was held under the chairmanship of Counselor Saeed Al-Houti, with the participation of Hamdan Al-Zyoudi, Vice Chairman of the Committee, Hassan Al-Shaibani, Abdullah Al-Hammadi and Salman Al-Taweel, members of the Committee, and Shadi Medhat as Rapporteur.
