Swedish golf star Henrik Stenson has contributed to European victory in three of his five appearances as a player before he was appointed vice-captain in the Ryder Cup 2020. But now he will for the first time lead the European team as captain in the autumn of 2023.

I will do everything in my power and turn every stone to take back the Ryder Cup trophy to European hands, says Stenson.
- When I started my professional career, it goes beyond my wildest imagination that one day I would follow legends like Seve (Ballesteros) and become captain of Europe in the Ryder Cup.
But this day proves that dreams sometimes come true.
The competition will be played in Italy from September 25 to October 1, 2023 and Stenson's twelve-man squad will face the United States, led by Zach Johnson.
