Two Swedish athletes miss the World Athletics Championships.

The 3,000-meter runner Andreas Almgren has an inflamed tendon in his foot and the sprinter Henrik Larsson has a feeling in the back of his thigh.

Both Almgren and Larsson have shown good form in recent weeks.

Henrik Larsson recently recorded a new personal best of 60 meters (6.60), and Andreas Almgren broke his own Swedish record of 3,000 meters as recently as a month ago.

The time of 7.34,31 was just over seven seconds faster than his previous best record.

"Of course it's very sad that Andreas can not be with.

He has shown really good form lately, but it is wise not to risk anything ", says Sweden's national team captain Kajsa Bergqvist to the Swedish Athletics Association's website.

The WC is decided Friday – Sunday.

Sweden's squad now consists of 14 active members.
