Already a five-time NBA champion with the San Antonio Spurs, Gregg Popovich entered American League history a little more on Friday, becoming the coach with the most regular season wins, his 1,336th against Utah, him to overtake Don Nelson.

His Jazz counterpart Quin Snyder warmly congratulated him after the match and all the Texan players surrounded their coach.

The all-time winningest coach in NBA history.

Congrats on No. 1336, Coach Pop!

Popovich, 73, took the reins of San Antonio in 1996 to make it a winning machine, donning five rings (1999, 2003, 2005, 2007, 2014), playing 22 play-offs in a row and being named three times coach of the year.

Last year, he also led the United States team to Olympic gold at the Tokyo Games.
