Last night, ahead of rejection in the first semi-finals of the Russian league's bandy playoffs, the country's national anthem echoed through the speakers.

In two arenas, the teams Dynamo Moscow, Neftjanik, Vodnik and Kuzbass formed in a "Z" on the ice.

What has become a symbol of Russians showing their support for the country's invasion of Ukraine.

The club Kuzbass, from Kemerovo in Siberia, has the Swede Simon Jansson in his squad.

The 31-year-old, who won Swedish Championship gold with both Västerås and Edsbyn, tells SVT Sport that he did not stand on the ice during the national anthem but then remained in the locker room.

"Easier said than done to tear up his contract"

"I have taken a stand against this formation, it was a matter of course for me," Simon Jansson tells SVT Sport.

Adam Gilljam, who was behind Sweden's World Cup gold in 2017, last week chose to break his contract with Yenisei before the playoffs, and went home.

Something that Jansson, who is doing his first season at the club, has not done.

"I know people might think I should go home, but everything is as usual here.

And it is easier said than done to just tear up his contract and go home with barely ten days left of the season ".

Janssons Kuzbass won the first semis in the best of three with 6-2, the Swede scored one of the goals.
