Bernd Neuendorf is the new President of the German Football Association (DFB).

The 60-year-old was elected by the delegates at the Bundestag in Bonn on Friday afternoon.

He succeeds Fritz Keller, who resigned last year.

After that, Peter Peters, who was now defeated by Neuendorf in the election, and Rainer Koch took over an interim dual leadership.

In his speech with a vision of the future, Neuendorf asked for the votes of the delegates.

"We don't talk about diversity, we live diversity!

This is how football should be in Germany in 2032,” said the former President of the Mittelrhein Association in Bonn on Friday.

He is now resigning from this post.

Football should “be the focus again”, people are tired of “only hearing about power struggles, quarrels and raids in connection with the DFB”.

This also means speaking out more clearly when it comes to political decisions in the interests of football: “Football must take on its social and political responsibility again.”

Peters previously campaigned for trust and called for change.

"We can only look ahead if we analyze the past and please, please, please don't repeat mistakes," said Schalke 04's long-time CFO in his application speech on Friday.

Peters (59) said he had “a problem” with dealing with the in-house audit bodies.

The bad image of the DFB is not only "due to the media or the authorities, I defend myself against that.

It's about credibility and honesty, trust and transparency.

That's what I'm up for."
