British minister: Chelsea sale must be done through the government

After imposing sanctions on Chelsea owner Roman Abramovich, the British government said today that any bid to buy the English Premier League club must be made through the government.

"Under the current licensing terms, the club will not be allowed to be sold," Britain's technology minister Chris Phelp told Sky News. "But if a party appears interested in buying, that buyer or the club will have to go to the government and request that the terms be amended to allow the sale to take place."
