When Thierry Sauvage, Managing Director of OL Groupe, commented three weeks ago, alongside Jean-Michel Aulas, on the half-year results of this structure, he confided that he was considering "bringing in a certain number of complementary partners" to "strengthen equity”.

Like JMA, he should not have been particularly surprised on Wednesday when he discovered that the Pathé and IDG Capital groups, which represent 19.36% and 19.85% of the capital of OL Groupe, announced via a press release that they wanted to sell their shares.

“Pathé and IDG Capital, partners of Olympique Lyonnais for more than 20 years and 5 years respectively, have received expressions of interest from investors and will favor parties wishing to collaborate with the current management in order to continue to develop the club's vision and to rely on OL's heritage", explain the two groups.

"I am part of the governance of this project", assures JMA

If the Chinese investment fund IDG Capital only arrived in 2016 by injecting 100 million euros, Pathé is a historical investor, headed by Jérôme Seydoux, and in particular enabled the recruitment of Sonny Anderson in 1999, for 15 M€, synonymous with a change in the size of the club in Ligue 1. An important page for the seven-time champion of France in the 2000s is therefore about to turn.

OL reacted on Wednesday evening by recalling that it "is actively working on a project to strengthen its financial structure".

"The work and operations of OL Groupe carried out under the direction of Jean-Michel Aulas will be part of a logic of continuity and permanence of the management", continues the press release from the Lyon club.

Last month, President Aulas, who holds 29.75% of the shares of OL Groupe through the Holnest holding company, responded to rumors of the club's sale: "The sale by the current shareholders to a foreign investor n is not at all in our perspective at the moment T. I am part of the governance of this project.
