Queiroz returns 4 players to the Egypt squad before facing Senegal

Coach Carlos Queiroz has returned the quartet of Ahmed Hassan (Koka), Mustafa Fathi, Karim Hafez and Ahmed Yasser Rayan to the Egyptian squad for two matches against Senegal in the play-off round for the 2022 World Cup qualifiers this month, after they were absent from the African Nations Cup in Cameroon.

Egypt will play the first leg at home on the 25th of this month, then visit Senegal four days later, in a repeat of the Nations Cup final last month.

Senegal won the continental title for the first time after defeating Egypt on penalties.

The Portuguese Queiroz summoned nine professional players outside Egypt, including the Turkish league trio Koca, striker of Konyaspor, Rayan, striker of Altayspor, and Hafez, midfielder of Malatyaspor, along with Fathi, the Saudi cooperation wing.

The list of professionals also includes Mohamed Salah, the Liverpool star and top scorer in the English Premier League, Mohamed Elneny, Arsenal midfielder, Mahmoud Hassan (Trezeguet), the Turkish wing Basak Shahr, Mustafa Mohamed, the Galatasaray striker, and Omar Marmoush, the German wing of Stuttgart.

Ahmed Hegazy, the defender of the Saudi Federation, is absent due to injury.

Queiroz is expected to announce the final squad in the coming days.
