Novak Djokovic missed this year's first Grand Slam tournament, the Australian Open, in high-profile forms when he refused to get vaccinated.

Next week it's time for the biggest tournament since then, Indian Wells in American California.

Even in that competition, which is one of the largest outside the Grand Slam competitions, there are vaccination requirements - just as it is to enter the United States.

May stand over the first round

When the tournament was drawn last night, Djokovic's name was still there.

- We are currently in contact with his team.

However, it has not been decided if he can participate yet, it is said in a statement from the organizers, which the news agency AP quotes.

If Djokovic is allowed to participate, he will face the first round, and in the second will face the winner between Belgium's David Goffan and Australian Jordan Thompson.

No Swedish gentleman will be there, after Elias Ymer lost to the German Daniel Masur in the qualifiers.

In the women's singles, Rebecca Peterson will face France's Harmony Tan in the first round.
