According to the report "" Not fun, but you have to put up with it ", it is more common for children who play team sports to be exposed to violations, and for most, 67 percent, the violations are linked to performance.

Why violations occur more often in team sports is not something that is investigated in the report, but it is something Maria Persson has given some thought to.

- A connection that I have in mind is that in a team sport, one's own performance is also affected by how others also perform.

That could be an explanation.

That is why it is important to talk about how we express ourselves about performance.

As a coach, asking yourself "how do I praise - is it only based on performance"?

Fair play price

Christer Alsiö is the coach of Värmdö IF and received the Fair Play award at the Sports Gala for his involvement in a veteran team for children in football.

Where children who previously stopped playing football together play just to have fun.

Alsiö says that he is not surprised by the result.

- I understand that, when you think about the culture that exists today, I am not surprised by the numbers, he says.

Christer Alsiö says that the pressure on children begins as early as the age of six.

- It is said that the children do not understand, but they do.

It creates a wrong society when you start so early.

It should just be fun.

"Absolutely scandalous"

According to the report, as many as ten percent of the children have been offended by a leader, something that makes both Persson and Alsiö react.

-It is of course not okay that every tenth child has been abused by an adult, and then usually their leader, it is the one who should be closest to him and who you should be able to trust, Persson says.

- It's completely scandalous.

Now it should be remembered that the majority are non-profit leaders, and we need to be better at educating.

Actually, you should have it as a driver's license, says Alsiö.

Persson also sees education as the main tool for counteracting the violations.

- There is a responsibility on the leaders, but a supportive structure is needed around them.

Associations and unions need to help raise awareness about violations and give leaders tools in their work.

They can, for example, work with different scenarios, she says.

Talk to prevent

Talking about abuse and community is the easiest way to prevent them from happening, according to Maria Persson.

- We can clearly see a connection between positive answers and how many answered that adults talk about community issues.

Christer Alsiö shares that experience, and says that it does not really have to be difficult to bring it up with the children.

- Before each training we talk about our three stars;

to be positive, not to swear and to have fun.

Everyone who agrees to do it during training takes a step forward.

Then you can say that 'but you promised not to swear, you took a step forward'.

Alsiö believes that the insecurity that children can experience in sports leads them to quit.

- We can not let them stop, or not dare to start, before they even filled in double digits.

There is so much to do in the associations.
