Zheng Peng won the championship, Yang Hongqiong won the gold

  Twin Cities of Shining Stars

Get on the podium and realize your dream with the coach

Yesterday, the cross-country skiing competition of the Beijing Winter Paralympics kicked off. Zheng Peng of the Chinese team won the men's long-distance (seated) gold medal with an absolute advantage, fulfilling the vow he made four years ago.

While Zheng Peng won the fourth gold medal for the Chinese Winter Paralympic delegation, his teammate Mao Zhongwu also won the silver medal, creating the best result for a Chinese player in the Winter Paralympic Games.

At the PyeongChang Winter Paralympics four years ago, Zheng Peng, who won the fourth place in the cross-country skiing long distance (sitting position), missed the medal. At that time, he made the Beijing Winter Paralympic Oath - go back and work harder , striving to be on the podium of the Beijing 2022 Winter Paralympic Games.

In the Beijing Winter Paralympics, Zheng Peng is determined to win the gold medal. This is not only his wish, but also the dream of coach Fu Chunshan.

"It is also the coach's wish that we can get on the podium, and we have achieved a dream together."

Zheng Peng, born in 1992, is from Xindu Town, Licheng District, Putian City.

In his words, he never thought he would be associated with sports until he was 20 years old.

In 2012, 20-year-old Zheng Peng came to Shenzhen alone and worked as an apprentice in an auto repair factory. He lost his legs in an accident.

Encountered such a heavy blow, Zheng Peng calmed down in the next year of treatment and looked for a way out for his future.

In this way, in 2013, he applied for the Beijing Sports School for the Disabled and was admitted.

Here he started a new life, not only learned various life skills, exercised his physique, but also became attached to skiing.

After graduating from the Sports School for the Disabled, Zheng Peng joined the national cross-country skiing and biathlon training team as he wished.

The training of the two events most tested the patience and endurance of the players. Zheng Peng gritted his teeth and persevered. "I have to train for 5 to 6 hours a day, mainly at a constant speed, and I will also perform high-intensity training several times a week." After unremitting efforts With his hard work, Zheng Peng's skiing ability continued to improve, and he finally qualified for the 2018 PyeongChang Winter Paralympics.

But the competition was brutal, and the podium passed by. Zheng Peng's first trip to the Winter Paralympics allowed him to experience the meaning of sunshine after wind and rain.

The moment he walked off the PyeongChang Winter Paralympic Games, Zheng Peng told himself that he must walk on the podium in four years.

To this end, he trained even harder, and when he crossed the finish line for the first time yesterday, he smiled happily. The hard work of the past four years has paid off.

"I'm very excited. Today I made up for the regrets of four years ago." After calming down a little, he said: "What I have to do today is to bring out my training level."

Regarding the championship he won, Zheng Peng believes that it does not belong to him alone, and that he also has his own coach, Fu Chunshan.

He said that the last thing he wanted to do after he passed the finish line was to take a photo with the coach.

"He is a coach, and he is also an athlete. It is also his dream to stand on the podium. Today, I have fulfilled the dream of both of us." After the award ceremony, Zheng Peng gave "Jin Rongrong" without hesitation coach.

  Yang Hongqiong reveals why

  Named "Yang Meijiao"

Following Zheng Peng's victory in the men's cross-country skiing long distance (sitting position), Yang Hongqiong, a 32-year-old veteran from Qujing, Yunnan, also won the women's cross-country skiing long distance (sitting position) gold medal yesterday.

After the game, Yang Hongqiong called her luck. The luck she said was not for the game, but that she almost gave up.

In yesterday's race, Yang Hongqiong was in the lead from the start of 3 kilometers. After that, he did not give up the leading position to others, and finally locked the championship with a score of 43 minutes 06 seconds 07 at the end of 15 kilometers.

After crossing the finish line, she subconsciously looked back at the snow track she slid through, and suddenly felt a trance. She said that she was originally a wheelchair basketball player, but now she has become the Winter Paralympic cross-country skiing champion.

In 2018, Yang Hongqiong was recommended to the training team of the Winter Paralympics.

"For a southerner, the word skiing is too far away. Since I have this opportunity, I will jump in without hesitation." Yang Hongqiong said that she realized the huge difference between wheelchair basketball and cross-country skiing when she really started training. "In the beginning, I trained on the concrete floor. Wheelchair basketball is more of a skill challenge. Cross-country skiing is more physically demanding. It is purely physical work, and it is too tiring."

What made Yang Hongqiong even more unexpected was that after the transfer, he was given a new name by the coach: Yang Meijiao.

She said that there is basically no wrestling in wheelchair basketball, but one of the characteristics of seated cross-country skiing is that you need to maintain the body balance in the sitting position, and you can only rely on your own hands. "In the beginning, whether it is winter training or summer training, wrestling The most is me. The coach in the team gave me a nickname - Yang Meijiao, I think it sounds very good. Later, the coach explained to me that he said that I fell every day-'Yang every fall '."

The name "Yang every wrestling" accompanies the training. Yang Hongqiong gradually mastered the skills of sitting skiing. She began to dream that she might achieve good results in the national and even international competitions.

As the saying goes, the greater the hope, the greater the disappointment. In the National Paralympic Games last year, Yang Hongqiong did not perform at his level at all. "The blow was very heavy. I felt that I was not suitable for this sport.

Yang Hongqiong thought about giving up, and she couldn't get out of the haze of failure for a month. "After thinking about it, I still feel unconvinced. How can I just give up? I still have to work hard and see if I can. It can't be done." Returning to the training ground, Yang Hongqiong not only qualified for the Beijing Winter Paralympics, but also signed up for three events at once.

Now that the first long distance event has won the championship, she said: "Look at my other two events!"
