It was on February 28 that the news that the International Football Association, Fifa, and its European counterpart, Uefa, had chosen to suspend all Russian club and national teams from international matches and tournaments.

A decision that was not well received by Russia.

The Russian Football Federation believes that Fifa and Uefa have no legal right to suspend them and has therefore submitted an appeal to the sports arbitration court, Cas.

"Extraordinary situation"

Now they seem to be getting it right.

According to Polish data, there are many indications that the playoffs, which should have actually started on March 24, will be moved to June.

It is the Polish journalist Sebastian Staszewski who writes on Twitter that Fifa is investigating whether it is possible to postpone the qualifiers so that Russia can participate.

This is because Fifa, according to the same sources, received information that Cas will lift the suspension of Russia.

Therefore, they now want to postpone the qualifier so that Cas has time to investigate the issue.

- This is an extraordinary situation, but Cas does not take into account moral or political aspects but only sports, says Cas judge Jakub Laskowski to the site sport.pl.

"No such indications"

The Swedish Football Association's chairman Karl-Erik Nilsson has not heard anything more than the Polish information when SVT Sport gets hold of him.

"As for our playoffs, no such indications have reached me.

However, the question has been raised in the group where Ukraine plays.

We look forward to a message from Fifa.

It's urgent! ”

Nilsson writes in a text message.
