Frenchwoman Cécile Hernandez, from the resort of Les Angles in the Pyrenees, won the gold medal at the Beijing Paralympic Games (March 4-13) in snowboard cross on Monday.

Suffering from multiple sclerosis, the 47-year-old athlete beat Canadian Lisa Dejong and American Brenna Huckaby.

Already world snowboard cross champion in Lillehammer at the start of the year, Cécile Hernandez won her first Paralympic title in Beijing after several medals in Pyeongchang (2018) and Sochi (2014).

With this new medal, France is now fifth in the standings (four in total including two in gold) during these Paralympic Games.
