A remarkable appearance for women's arbitration in the Emirates Jiu-Jitsu Federation Championships

The Jiu-Jitsu Challenge Championship, which was held over two days at the Jiu-Jitsu Arena in Abu Dhabi last February, witnessed a great performance by athletes from all over the world, and was marked by the remarkable participation of the national team stars, Bashayer Al Matrooshi and Maitha Shreim, in judging a number of Al-Baraem category matches.

Bashayer Al Matrooshi says about this experience, in which she appeared for the second time as a referee for the competitions: “It was a great opportunity for me.

I have a strong background on the rules of jiu-jitsu as a player in the national team, so I am already familiar with the rules of arbitration, and I also completed a special course in arbitration, to enhance my capabilities in this field.”

Al Matrooshi started practicing jiu-jitsu from a young age, joined the Al Ain Club Academy, and booked her position in the national team, where she showed a remarkable performance as a professional jiu-jitsu player and her achievements are proof of that.

She continued, "The UAE Jiu-Jitsu Federation is keen to empower the daughters of the nation and harness all the capabilities that enable them to reach the top in this sport.

There are many Emirati female talents who enjoy an acclaimed role in the sports arena in general and jiu-jitsu in particular. Today, we have Emirati female coaches, referees and international stars who record many success stories.

For her part, Al Matrooshi's teammate, Maitha Shreim, confirmed that she was nervous at first when she first took charge of refereeing, but with the passage of time on the rug it quickly became fun for her.

She continued, “It is the first time that I have taken over the assignment.

I used to stand in the ring as the winner and the referee raise my hand, and this time I was standing between the players and declaring the winner, I never expected to play this role."

Maitha described arbitration as a different experience and a great responsibility that requires accuracy, integrity and decisive decision-making.
