The Manchester United legend questions the official data about Ronaldo's injury.. What happens to the "Don"

Manchester United interim coach Ralph Rangnick has dismissed any suggestion that Cristiano Ronaldo's absence from his side during Sunday's 4-1 Premier League defeat by Manchester City was not simply due to a thigh injury.

Former United captain Roy Keane asked about the fact that Ronaldo was injured during the Sky Sports broadcast of the Manchester derby.

This does not convince me.”

Kane made similar comments after the match and Rangnick was asked to respond in his press conference.

"The doctor came to see me on Friday and told me that Cristiano could not train because of a thigh problem and it was like that on Saturday and that's why he couldn't be part of the team," the German said.

"It's just a fact... If the players tell the medical team that they are injured and cannot play, I have to accept that."

United were also without Uruguay striker Edinson Cavani through injury, but Rangnick said he was fit enough to train.

The German coach added, “Eddie trained the past three days, he trained well, but after these training he still felt that he was not fit to play.

This is a fact.

As a coach, I cannot force a player if he does not feel ready enough to play.”

United dropped out of the top four after their defeat and are now one point behind Arsenal, who beat Watford 3-2 on Sunday, but the Londoners also have three more games to play and Rangnick said there was little room for error.

"I wasn't really expecting Arsenal to lose against Watford, so obviously for us, if we still want to have a chance to finish fourth at the end of the season, we can hardly lose any more points," he said.
