The battle in the SHL's bottom layer is getting closer and closer and the results in Sunday night's matches in the SHL may play a big role when the basic series is over.

Malmö took the chance against Linköping, at the same time as the bottom competitors Djurgården and Timrå met each other, and won 5-2.

Marcus Sylvegård gave the guests the lead at the end of the first period, assisted by big brother Emil Sylvegård.

Early in the second period also came 2-0.

Ponthus Westerholm's shot hit Carl Söderberg in front of goal, after which the puck looked for Fredrik Händemark who could easily send the puck into the net.

Malmö led 3-1 after the second period but early in the third it would be dramatic when Eddie Larsson arranged a reduction for Linköping.

But it was Malmö's night this time.

The Skåne team held off and in the final stage, Joakim Ryan and Carl Söderberg could each score a goal in an empty goal cage.

Thus, Malmö has 55 points with six matches left to play.

Up to Linköping in eleventh place, there are three points, and the teams will meet again on Thursday.

- Super important.

We have played well in many matches, today we do well and we succeed in the end.

Damn nice, says Pathrik Westerholm.
