During his long career, Kjetil Jansrud has won five Olympic and three World Cup medals, including an Olympic gold in Super-G 2014 and World Cup gold in downhill in Åre 2019 as top merits.

Today it was time for the last competition of his career, which in addition to the championship gold also gave three titles in the Super-G-cup and one in the downhill cup.

Finished as 29th

The career ended fittingly enough at home, through a downhill race at the World Cup in Kvitfjell, Norway.

When Jansrud, with starting number 31, finished as the 29th skier, he was greeted with great cheers from the home crowd.

He kissed the snow before his teammates gave him flowers and carried him on a gold chair.

"The feeling was indescribable"

Then all his competitors came out to the finish area and met with applause a teary-eyed Jansrud.

- That feeling was indescribable, Jansrud says to Norwegian TV2.

- Just to experience that moment, my last goal ... It was emotional.

I have a small lump in my throat and have had it ever since I went to the finish.

I just feel an indescribable gratitude.

Paris wrote history

Dominik Paris won the competition, 55 hundredths ahead of Jansrud's Norwegian compatriot Alexander Åmodt Kilde.

Paris thus became the first skier to win the downhill race in Kvtifjell three times.

His previous victories came in 2016 and 2019.

- I did not know, but it feels good.

I'm just really happy that I went fast today, really fast.

The victory means that his chance of winning the downhill cup lives on, before the end in Courchevel on March 11.

Paris is 88 points behind Kilde.

For the past four years, the downhill cup has been won by Beat Feuz.
