On Thursday, the World Cup weekend in Norway begins with a sprint in Drammen.
On Saturday, the party moves the just over four miles northeast out to the classic Holmenkollen for the ladies' three miles.
On Sunday, the men drive their five miles.
Historically, the competitions have involved a folk festival next to the track with high audience numbers and in some places high alcohol intake.
This is something that the organizer does not want to see this year.
- We do not want a party that goes out of control.
We do not want excessive alcohol consumption and partying that has nothing to do with sports, says the CEO of Holmenkollen's Ski Festival to Nettavisen.
The organizer also says that it has to do with the covid situation, but also with Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
- We have said that people are welcome to stand next to the track and cheer on the skiers, but that it will be a ski party in moderation this year, we will tone it down, says Stefan Marx.
The ladies' three-mile starts at 10:00 on Saturday and the men's run their five-mile on Sunday at 12:00.
