Today, Therese Johaug announced that she will retire after the season.
Tomorrow she will make her last three miles in the national team uniform.
During her successful career, Johaug has won 14 World Cup gold medals and as recently as February, she won all individual Olympic medals of the noblest denomination.
SVT Sports expert Mathias Fredriksson does not hold back in his tributes to Norwegian.
- It is difficult to be more dominant than she has been in recent seasons.
It's a unique thing that ends.
At the same time, it is not very surprising that she does it considering how she got the medals she missed at the Olympics.
It has lived a little between the lines that she missed the normal life, he says.
"Tireless"
On the women's side, other skiers have had a hard time measuring up to Johaug.
And there are clear reasons, says Fredriksson.
- Her physique is unique.
She has better physical conditions than anyone else.
In addition to cross-country skiing, it is only to see the summers where she dominates running.
She is a tireless athlete.
Her capacity is better than any other.
Johaug has also stayed healthy through all the years and been on the right side of the border.
That's what allowed her to be so good.
"The biggest star"
It will be a big loss for the sport - but mainly for Norway.
- Cross-country skis lose the biggest skier, the biggest star.
But this sport can be even more interesting, as it gets smoother.
She has been so superior.
For Norwegian women's skiing it will be a really big loss and for being crass it has been very thin behind her.
There is not really anyone who is as good, says Fredriksson.
Johaug also has a relay gold from the Olympics in Vancouver 2010. The Norwegian Ski Association informs NRK that the 33-year-old will run more competitions than Holmenkollen this season.
