Together with coach Johan Röjler, Nils van der Poel has taken over the skating world.

On Thursday, the 26-year-old announced that his career is over after next week's World Cup competitions in Heerenveen.

This means that Johan Röjler suddenly stands without any adept to train.

 - It will certainly be a major change for him because he is as acclaimed as he is right now.

Nils has talked a lot and with me also about what he wants to do.

It has been understood that it is not the case that there is a rock-hard focus on skating next year as well, says Röjler.

"Want to produce more talented skiers"

So what is he going to do with all his experience now?

- I have not decided what to do when this ends.

I have received some inquiries and know that there are various forces that want me to continue working in skating and Swedish sports.

Is it possible to get a new Nils?

- I would like to use the knowledge I have gained in recent years to try to be involved in developing Swedish skating and develop more talented skiers in the future.

Röjler, who is also friends with van der Poel, says that he will try to keep the 26-year-old peppered so that there will be an opportunity for van der Poel to return.

- He has shown that he can let go of the skate and come back with a different mental energy.
