Ukrainian athletes have been supported by people all over the world since the Russian invasion - and yesterday Benfica's Roman Jaremtjuk got a taste of the support.
He was substituted in the 62nd minute of the match between Benfica and Vitoria Guimaeres and put on the captain's armband while being received with standing ovations and applause.
Both teams' supporters showed their support and Jaremtjuk found it difficult to hold back the tears.
"Your applause is for all those who protect my family," he wrote in an emotional Instagram post.
Benfica won the match 3-0.
