Several sports organizations in various sports have condemned Russia's invasion of Ukraine.

The next in line to do so is the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation.

A press release demands that Russia and Belarus be shut down from all international ice hockey, including this spring's World Cup.

The union's president Harri Nummela says the following:

"We had active discussions over the weekend and had a meeting with Luc Tardiff (chairman of the International Ice Hockey Federation).

We have announced that the Finnish Ice Hockey Federation demands that Russia and Belarus be excluded from international ice hockey.

We also do not intend to play matches against their national team ", says Nummela according to Swedish Yle.

The Swiss Ice Hockey Federation came up with a similar demand this weekend.

"We noted that it is not possible for Russia and Belarus to participate in the World Cup in Tampere and Helsinki in May," said Nummela.

Finland is part of the same World Cup group as Belarus.

Later today, a meeting will be held between the Swedish, Czech and Finnish unions.
