In February, Frida Westman became the first Swedish female ski jumper to compete in the Olympic Games.

There it became a 16th place.

Before that, her personal best in the World Cup has been a nice seventh place.

This weekend, the 21-year-old has taken great strides.

Yesterday she finished fourth in Hinzenbach, Austria and when it was time for a new competition on the same hill today, it was getting better than that.

Westman was second behind Slovenian Nika Kriznar after the first jump and had a chance on the podium.

But after a slightly worse second jump, she finished fourth.

- It has been a good weekend for me, I jumped technically well and nice to improve day by day.

I'm happy with that, she says.

Not happened in 30 years

How did you feel before the second jump when you had a chance on the podium?

- Of course I was a little nervous, but it was still fun to be in such a situation and see how you react.

Did the situation affect you much?

- Yes, it is clear that I have not been in such a situation before.

I still thought I handled it pretty well even if I did not get on the podium.

It was not a failed hope.

It is small details that make the difference today.

Considering that no Swedish ski jumper has been on a World Cup podium since Mikael Martinsson in 1992, Westman's success means a lot to Swedish ski jumping.

- It feels strange that it has taken so long, but it feels good that I might awaken the sport in Sweden.

There are several who said that they see me when I compete when we have a Swede who is with.

It makes me happy.

There are many who have heard of it and I am grateful for that.

People are happy and so am I, she says.
