FIFA bans two African federations from participating in all international activities!

FIFA has suspended the federations of Kenya and Zimbabwe in the latest crackdown on government interference.

The governments of the two countries dissolved the two federations last year, but they were suspended from participating in all international football activities after a decision by the FIFA Council on Thursday.

The Kenyan Ministry of Sports decided last November to dissolve the country's Football Association, as multiple charges of fraud were brought against its president, Nick Mwendwa.

Mwendwa has since resigned as president of the federation.

This month, four members of the Zimbabwe Football Association, including its president, Felton Kamambu, appeared in court in Harare on fraud charges.

The Zimbabwe Football Association's executive committee was dissolved last November by the country's Sports and Recreation Commission, a government-appointed body, amid allegations that funds provided by the country to the federation for Zimbabwe's participation in the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations were embezzled.

"Without prejudice to any investigations by national authorities or other judicial bodies, the FIFA Council has decided to suspend the Kenya Football Association and the Zimbabwe Football Association with immediate effect due to unjustified interference by a third party," Reuters quoted FIFA.
