3 brazilian footballers flee ukraine

Three soccer players from Brazil, from the Ukrainian team Dnipro, announced on social media Saturday that they fled Ukraine and crossed the border towards Romania, in light of the outbreak of fighting there.

Gabriel Bosnaello, Bale and Felipe Perez told their families and fans that they are safe.

"We did it after two days of terror and a lot of tension, and we were able to get out... Now we are on our way home," Bell said in a video message via Instagram after arriving in Romania.

The 22-year-old joined from Flamengo only last month, and said he took a bus to reach the border with Romania, before crossing on his feet.

This trio is among a group of Brazilians who posted messages on social media, asking for help to flee Ukraine after the Russian invasion.

The Brazilian government has asked about 500 Brazilians in Ukraine to keep in touch with the embassy.

"Now we must help those in Ukraine. They really need our help and support," wrote Felipe Pires.
