Aleksander Ceferin, chairman of the European Football Association Uefa, called yesterday for a Uefa meeting held on Friday.

Shortly after the meeting ended, the association announced that it would move the Champions League final from Russia to the Stade de France, Paris.

Karl-Erik Nilsson, chairman of the Swedish Football Association and vice chairman of Uefa, explains that three decisions were adopted during today's meeting.

- It was about moving the men's Champions League final and then that no matches will be played on Russian territory or Ukrainian territory.

These were the questions that were most immediate to deal with, then there are other questions to deal with and they will be raised in the near future, says Karl-Erik Nilsson to SVT Sport and continues:

- Given the situation that is and what we have experienced in recent days and that Russia is at war, perhaps it is a given for most people that this is a necessary decision.

There was also full agreement on this.

"Hope for message"

Karl-Erik Nilsson explains that the decision was a first step.

- We will follow the development daily, partly through contact with our colleagues in the respective countries, but above all see how the armed conflict develops.

We will then see if there are new decisions or changes to the decisions we have linked to matches.

How much was the upcoming World Cup playoff raised?

- UEFA's position is that no matches should be played on Russian territory.

The World Cup playoff is not a Uefa competition but a Fifa competition, where we are waiting for information from Fifa.

We (SvFF), together with Poland and the Czech Republic, have told Fifa that we think it is very inappropriate to play on Russian territory.

We have received support from Uefa about it so we hope for information from Fifa which means that they meet our wishes.

"Proceed to work immediately"

How is the dialogue with Fifa?

- We received information yesterday that Fifa was not yet ready to make a decision.

We are convinced that they value the development of events day by day.

We are waiting to be notified as soon as possible.

Do you have a set time for a message?

- No, but the sooner the better, of course, so that we know what we should relate to when it comes to planning for the matches.

From our point of view, we think that Fifa could step in immediately, but they obviously want to wait.

This summer, a women's European Championship awaits, where Russia has qualified, was that a topic you raised?

- There was no talk about that issue.

However, there are very many issues left to discuss, they will be discussed in the near future.

When is the next Uefa meeting?

- There will be a meeting at very short notice and very soon.
