National team star Sofia Jakobsson, who is currently at the Algarve cup with Blågult, left Bayern Munich this summer at his own request.

Shortly after leaving the German big club, the moving cargo looked on to the USA and the NWSL club San Diego Wave.

The 31-year-old was not happy with his situation in Bavaria.

- It did not turn out exactly as I had hoped for when I signed for Bayern.

I did not play as much as I would have liked, says Jakobsson to SVT Sport.

Hoping for more playing time

Now a new assignment awaits the outsider.

- I hope for more playing time so that I can come well prepared for the European Championships and the World Cup to come, says Jakobsson and points out that she wants to build self-confidence as she gets to spend more time on the football field.

- It means a lot to have matches in your legs.

I see it as a hopefully good choice.

"A good dialogue"

Jakobsson says that she previously had contact with San Diego even before the move to Bayern Munich.

- It feels like a club with a good coach and organization and it is an adventure that will be inspiring and good for me.

No worries that it would affect your chances in the national team?

- No, if I play good football, I will join.

Hopefully I get to play a lot and do it.

- I have also talked to the club team and said that the national team is very important.

I have a good dialogue with the club and the club has it with the national team.

On Wednesday, Sweden will face Italy in the Algarve Cup final.

You can watch the match on SVT1 / Play starting at 12.00.
