The football federations of Poland, Sweden and the Czech Republic asked Thursday, in a joint press release, to relocate the play-off matches at the World Cup-2022 scheduled for the end of March in Russia and involving their selections, in the face of "military escalation" Russian in Ukraine.

Extraordinary UEFA meeting on Friday

These federations “do not plan to travel to Russia” on March 24 and 29, 2022 to compete for their ticket for the World Cup and have asked Fifa and UEFA, organizers, to “react immediately and present solutions alternatives” concerning the place of meetings.

UEFA is holding an extraordinary meeting of its executive committee on Friday, where it should also decide to move the Champions League final scheduled for Saint Petersburg.

"The military escalation that we are observing has serious consequences and considerably less security for our national teams and our official delegations", note the federations.

Russia must indeed host Poland on March 24 in Moscow, in the semi-finals of the World Cup-2022 play-offs.

And if it qualifies, the "Sbornaïa" will receive the winner of Sweden-Czech Republic on March 29.
