Per Johansson joined Russian Rostov-Don in September 2020. Yesterday he was presented as the new coach of the Netherlands' women's national team.

However, he remains in the Russian border town when SVT Sport reaches him, but is about to leave the city.

- It is a bit stressful, now it has changed quite sharply, all airports in southern Russia are closed for at least a week, the trains are fully booked, he says to SVT Sport.

Trying to get north - flights canceled and trains full

He and his wife Ann-Sofie aim to get to St. Petersburg or Moscow.

The city of Rostov, where they otherwise live, is located in southern Russia, on the border with Ukraine.

- It's probably easier to get from there to Stockholm.

- Everyone is aware that the war is underway, but there is no danger here right now, but it is worrying of course, there is a reason why they are closing airports.

Are you scared, are you gathered or how are you feeling right now?

- I can not say that I am afraid, we are close to the border, but there are many here who protect the border, but there is an increased stress, we have lived with the threat for several months, it has been normal, but today it is one day to make a decision, to take us north.

The Swedish player has already left the country

How are you going to behave?

- I do not know yet which mode of transport it will be, but all trains are full, we may have to take a taxi, it is only 120 km so it is not so dangerous, says Johansson and laughs.

Swedish midfielder Anna Lagerquist, who plays in Rostov-Don as Johansson trains, has already left the country.

- I just talked to her, have just left the country, but I do not know more, says Johansson.

- The club supports this and tries to book trips, they are helpful.
